The Pierce’s Holiday 2024 Letter
Jerry and Barbara Pierce wish you a happy, healthy, holiday season and a great 2025!
Another great year! More Traveling! Turkey and Alaska! We celebrated our 50th anniversary (VERY low key). Everyone in the family is doing well. We have had a number of family get-togethers in Boise, Long Beach AND Redwood City. We are so pleased we get to see our family so often!
Our children and their offspring are doing fine. Miles is now 12 (in Junior High), Analiese is 9 (4th grade) and Waverly is 6 (Kindergarten). And their parents (Andrea/Martin/Amanda/Mel) are also doing well.
Celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary
Once again our year was a delightful set of trips to see children and travel. No big health issues (thank goodness). We were able to travel with friends to Turkey for a few weeks – WOW! Read the trip report. We also did a delightful trip to Alaska with National Geographic with that trip report!
Humpback Whale in Alaska
Barbara continues as chairperson of the effort to add a “Carriage House” to the County History Museum. It’s looking good with the structure in place! She also continues serving on BAWSCA – Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency.
Jerry continues to backpack, row in the SF Bay and continues working in cinema by leading the ISDCF (Intersociety Digital Cinema Forum) and runs meetings of 40+ people to help the industry. He also continues to take way-too-many photos and share some (not too many?) of them with others.
Jerry got in yet another four wonderful backpacking hikes! Read all about each of the trips by clicking on the red titles below. Jerry was pretty sick on the Sequoia hike, but was able to make the trek. It included reporting a campsite fire due to a careless prior hiker building a campfire in the wrong place!
Jerry’s January 1 tradition of a mimosa row with friends at the rowing club (BIAC). Jerry leads the group and gets out of the boat, into the DEEP mud and gets a picture. Just something we do!
Both Barbara and Jerry are back to Rowing.
Jerry is more active, but Barbara is starting again!
In the Bay (about 5 miles from shore) is the South Bay Wreck – a WWI destroyer rotting away.
Sometimes rainbows just appear (well it might be raining a little)
Long Beach
Many trips to Long Beach to visit with Waverly, Amanda and Mel. We count 10 trips down Interstate 5 to visit everyone! Our condo is GREAT and we love it (especially the kitchen).
Halloween
Boise
Not to be outdone, Boise is also a favorite destination. 7 trips this year including the full family Christmas week! (Some of us were hoping for snow in Boise, but it’s just too warm!)
Lots of sports in Boise. Skiing, Soccer, Baseball, Gymnastics and Basketball. Oh yes and running. Fun to see the family active!
Analiese is becoming a great gymnast!
And other adventures around the state. We (again) went to Hetch Hetchy cabin – this time with our bonus daughter, Kirsten and good friends Bob and Donna Benner.
We went to Wawona in Yosemite with Chu and Moon to enjoy the early springtime!
We made a trip to Ohio to visit with Barbara’s Brother Keith and Sue. Barbara visited again and joined them on their trip to New York to see Norman and Anita and on to Maine – great trip!
And some random pretty pictures
As usual, we wish you all health, time enough to do the things you wish, and money enough to afford them. Come by and see us if you are ever in our area! We would love to visit! Then again we might be in Boise, Long Beach, Hiking or on an International trip!
